About The Site

Why

Writing lecture notes up in this way is good revision. That's why I do it. The main difference in my notes is the presence of words to try and explain what is going on. I hope they help you too.

Technical Details

This site is supposed to be fully compliant with HTML 4 and CSS 2. Internet Explorer displays all pages on this site as they are intended to be. Although IE will make a good job of rendering complete rubbish, it does at least render good code properly. Netscape Naigator, on the other hand, is anally retentive about HTML (which is no bad thing). However, Navigator does not render certain tags properly, in particular the requirement of the BORDER attribute in the FRAMESET tag spoils my HTML 4 compliance.

This site was made entirely on a Macintosh, using a text editor for the HTML and CorelPHOTO-PAINT 8 for the graphics. My notes are written in Microsoft Word 6 (PDF) or LaTeX (DVI) typeset with OzTeX.

Me

I am a third year undergraduate maths student at The University Of Birmingham and am on the four year undergraduate masters course. At this point you would be forgiven for imagining a bad haircut and a dress sense that would look bad even at a stamp collecting and computer jargon seminar. I am glad (and a little smug) that I would look quite out of place at such a meeting, and shall provide photographic evidence the instant anybody feels the need to buy me a scanner.
Job offers welcome.
